Program Strategies:
- To establish a network of UT Extension educators with expertise in basic consumer education addressing medication literacy.
- To deliver community-based medication educational programs tailored to meet the health literacy level and interests of the participants.
- To collaborate with community pharmacists and other professionals addressing medication literacy.
- To disseminate medication information through media and at places where people frequent.
- To promote the recommendations and resources of the National Council for Patient Information and Education.
- To educate pharmacists and other health care providers about the patient educational resources available from the National Council on Patient Information and Education.
- Promote the Tennessee Poison Center as a resource for providing treatment for medication errors.
- Promote pharmacists as a resource for medication questions including prescription and over-the-counter medications.
