UT Extension, Be MedWise Promoting Wise Use of Over-the-Counter Medicines  

Program Strategies:

  1. To establish a network of UT Extension educators with expertise in basic consumer education addressing medication literacy.
  2. To deliver community-based medication educational programs tailored to meet the health literacy level and interests of the participants.
  3. To collaborate with community pharmacists and other professionals addressing medication literacy.
  4. To disseminate medication information through media and at places where people frequent.
  5. To promote the recommendations and resources of the National Council for Patient Information and Education.
  6. To educate pharmacists and other health care providers about the patient educational resources available from the National Council on Patient Information and Education.
  7. Promote the Tennessee Poison Center as a resource for providing treatment for medication errors.
  8. Promote pharmacists as a resource for medication questions including prescription and over-the-counter medications.
